Chervil Vertissimo is an annual that grows to about 61 cm (24") tall.  It has light green leaves that resemble finely cut parsley.  White flowers are produced on flat heads.  The leaves have a hint of licorice flavor.  The delicate flavor disappears in cooking so add it just prior to serving.  Chervil likes to grow in a cool season.  Chervil serves as an excellent companion plant for carrots and radishes and is reported to make radishes hotter and crisper when grown near it . It also grows well with cilantro/coriander and dill, making them an ideal grouping for containers. It has also been reported to protect lettuces from aphids and other insects when companion planted. Leaves have a mild, sweet anise flavor.  It is popular for using in salads, micro greens, and garnishing. Chervil's flowers are also edible, and used to garnish salads as well. Flavor is of mild licorice.  Chervil is quite a hardy plant once established.

Growing Instructions:

Chervil is a cool-season herb that is typically grown from seed. Sow seeds in early spring or late summer, depending on your climate. Choose a location that receives partial shade in hot climates and full sun in cooler climates. Sow seeds 1cm (½”) deep, spaced 15-20cm (6-8”) apart in rows spaced 30-45cm (12-18”) apart. Keep soil moist and cool to promote germination, which typically takes 14-21 days. Thin seedlings to 10-15cm (4-6”) apart when they are 5-7cm (2-3”) tall. Chervil prefers well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Soil pH should be between 6.0 and 7.0. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. Chervil can bolt (go to seed) in hot weather, so harvest leaves when they are young and tender. Chervil can be harvested as baby leaves or mature leaves. Mature leaves can be harvested by cutting the entire plant or by picking individual leaves as needed. Chervil can also be grown as a cut-and-come-again crop, where you harvest only the outer leaves and allow the center of the plant to continue growing.

Soil Conditions: Well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Soil pH: 6.0-7.0. Planting Depth: Sow seeds 1cm (½”) deep. Germination: 14-21 days. Height at Maturity: 30-60cm (12-24”) tall. Days to Maturity: 60-90 days. Watering: Keep soil moist and cool. Chervil prefers consistent watering throughout the season. Sun/Shade: Partial shade in hot climates, full sun in cooler climates. Spacing after Thinning: Thin seedlings to 10-15cm (4-6”) apart.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
